Freedom to act, freedom to move, freedom to say what we choose. We are "immortal" Capsuleers, free of ties and free to choose our fate. What do we do with this freedom? We act in our own self interest. We manipulate, we take, we destroy. We see others as enemies, as competition, as prey. We band together in loose-knit groups for common defense. When we feel safe, when our core requirements are met, we begin to make friendships. But even then it is hollow. We do not have true freedom. We are prisoners of our own nature. Some suggest that we need to become something more in order to change. That's not the answer though. If we become something more but our aggressive and fearful nature is not changed, we simply create a larger problem. We compound a problem that needs fixed now. This is the most inevitable truth of our existence; we are a danger to ourselves and others until we can overcome our nature as an aggressive species. This is not something that technology or genetic manipulation or blind faith will solve. It is not something that can be dictated by law or sold by corporations. It is something that we must realize in ourselves. It is a change of thought and behavior, a conscious decision, and one that must be cultivated once made. Empires are forged in fire and blood, but can we create something greater? Can we truly be free?
